Beef tallow is rendered fat from grass-fed cattle, specifically the suet that surrounds the kidneys. At Milk & Marrow, we use 100% West Australian grass-fed suet, which is rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K, as well as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). It's one of the most skin compatible fats in nature, closely mirroring the lipid profile of healthy human skin.
Most plant-based moisturisers, shea, coconut, jojoba, have a different molecular structure to human skin, which means they sit on the surface rather than truly absorbing. Tallow, on the other hand, is remarkably similar to our skin's own sebum, allowing it to penetrate deeply and nourish at a cellular level.
